Prospect of the Day: OOPSY Has Ryan Clifford 409 Spots Higher Than the Formulated Consensus
PROSPECT OF THE DAY: RYAN CLIFFORD
1B, NYM | as of 11/5/2026
Ryan Clifford is 22, and OOPSY has the Mets’ first baseman No. 61 overall in the STS fantasy ranking. Among hitters, the Formulated Consensus has him No. 462, 409 spots lower than OOPSY’s No. 53, and the scout-based rankings have him outside their top 100. His case is built on his power. You’re not coming to Clifford for speed; cutting down strikeouts is the piece that decides his next move.
OOPSY Sits 409 Spots Higher
All eight lists in the Formulated Consensus rank him: OOPSY plus all seven partner lists. Together they put him No. 462 among hitters. That is 409 spots (89%) below OOPSY’s No. 53 among hitters, and none of those seven partner lists has him inside its top 100. Prospect Larceny’s formulated ranking (PLFR), for one, has him No. 704, 651 spots below OOPSY’s No. 53.
Power That Plays
His best STS grade is a plus power mark at 60. In his projected OOPSY Peak line, 24 homers ranks 14th of 91 hitters in the top 100. That kind of pop plays in any fantasy format, and it’s why OOPSY still has him this high.
Mike Sirota Holds the Next Spot
The next real step is the top 50 overall on the board, and the player holding that line is Dodgers center fielder Mike Sirota, No. 50 and 11 spots ahead. Sirota projects for 2.8 Peak WAR to Clifford’s 1.8, a gap of 1.0. If Clifford closes that gap, a lower strikeout rate is the likeliest way he does it.
Strikeouts Are the Number to Watch
OOPSY projects him for a 30% strikeout rate, and his hit tool grades below average at 45. The median hitter in the OOPSY Peak top 100 with a projected strikeout rate sits at 22%. If Clifford starts cutting down the whiffs in his stat lines, that is the piece most likely to move OOPSY.
Worth Holding, and Cheap to Buy
The scout-based rankings, which we use as a rough stand-in for trade prices, have him outside their top 100 (against his No. 61 spot in the STS fantasy ranking). If he’s on your roster, a trade partner probably won’t pay what OOPSY thinks he’s worth, so hold him. If you’re shopping, he should cost far less than OOPSY’s view suggests.
