Brooks Lee homered twice in the Minnesota Twins’ 3-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lee finished 2-for-4 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Both of his hits left the yard as he provided the majority of Minnesota’s offense on the afternoon.
Ben Rice contributed in the New York Yankees’ 13-8 win over the Athletics. Rice went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI. His extra-base hits helped fuel a potent Yankees offense that plated 13 runs on the day.
Tatsuya Imai took the loss as the Houston Astros fell 0-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers. The right-hander allowed 2 earned runs over 6 innings, striking out 5 and walking 2. Houston was shut out despite Imai’s solid effort on the mound.
Spencer Strider suffered the loss in the Atlanta Braves’ 4-6 defeat to the Cincinnati Reds. Strider struck out 8 over 5 innings but allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits. The Braves’ offense could not overcome the deficit after Strider exited the game.
